They are designed to ease the rollout of chatbots and AI, improve search and create more personalized shopping experiences.<\/p>\n<p>There appears to be a significant need for improvement in all these areas. Only about one-third of consumers who have used virtual assistants are satisfied with them and nearly 20% don\u2019t want to use them again, according to a new survey from IBM.<\/p>\n<p><!-- \/1038259\/MT_Post-text --><\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Dig deeper: <\/em><\/strong><a rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/martech.org\/samsung-sees-success-with-shoppable-tv-ads\/\"><strong><em>Samsung sees success with shoppable TV ads<\/em><\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<p>However, consumers remain very interested in using AI. Most (59%) would like to use AI applications as they shop and 80% of those who haven\u2019t used the technology for shopping would like to try it, according to IBM\u2019s report \u201cRevolutionize retail with AI everywhere: Customers won\u2019t wait.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Google\u2019s offerings are aimed squarely at these issues. The new tools include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Conversational Commerce makes it easier to embed chatbots on websites and mobile apps. They can have \u201chelpful and nuanced\u201d conversations with shoppers looking for products, and make suggestions based on a shopper\u2019s preferences.\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>The Complementing Conversational Commerce Solution automatically generates product descriptions, metadata, categorization suggestions and more from as little as a single product photo. It can also generate new product images from existing ones and product descriptions.<\/li>\n<li>Vertex AI Search adds new large language model (LLM) capabilities, allowing sellers to custom-tune an LLM to their unique product catalog and shoppers\u2019 search patterns. It can provide consumers with more relevant search results by better ranking potential products as a fit for any given search term.\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>Customer Service Modernization integrates a retailer\u2019s existing CRM data with chatbots to improve self-service, make product recommendations, schedule appointments, check order status and more.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The company also unveiled Google Distributed Cloud Edge, which is designed to make it easier for retailers to use AI in locations with low or no internet. The current primary use cases for it are store analytics, frictionless checkout and streamlined mission-critical store operations.<\/p>\n<p>Google\u2019s announcement was made the same day <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/martech.org\/microsoft-unveils-new-workflow-and-analysis-tools-for-customer-insights\/\" target=\"_blank\">Microsoft also introduced AI-powered tools<\/a> for retailers and two days after <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/martech.org\/ai-powered-martech-releases-and-news-jan-11\/\" target=\"_blank\">Walmart unveiled genAI search technology<\/a> for consumers to use.<\/p>\n<p><!-- START INLINE FORM --><\/p>\n<div class=\"nl-inline-form border py-2 px-1 my-2\">\n<div class=\"row align-items-center justify-content-center nl-inline-container\">\n<div class=\"col-12 col-lg-3 col-xl-auto pb-2 pb-lg-0\">\n<p class=\"inline-form-text text-center mb-0\">Get MarTech!
